For some reason when I started this quest,
I decided not to seek out man-made tourist attraction ponds,
such as those on golf courses or the zoo.
Now I've changed my mind!
I want to include small pond #1,
lagoon #2 and ponds #3 -7 located
at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park
in San Pasqual Valley near Escondido.
#1 looked like a pond where employees could relax
even though it was a bit low, it had picnic tables,
was set up on a hill with a great view, and
there were NO wild animals.
#2 is the lagoon in the middle / entrance area of the park.
It has lots of nooks and crannies (or something),
is filled with birds and other aquatic life, and
surrounded by walkways, docks, piers, overlooks, etc.
#3 is across the road from the African Tram depot.
#4 southernmost pond (not counting a utility swamp).

Here's the part that's mostly full of birds.
There's a divided section where they keep flamingos.

Here's #5 which has a small island in the center.
I had to splice in this tiny pond.
I forgot it until I looked closely at my photos.
Lets call it 6
Here's #7, a big pond at the highest point in the Africa Safari area.
It is divided into two parts.
I was on the wrong side of the tram to get a shot of the lower part of the pond.
But here's a photo of a new-born African antelope in compensation.
And a baby elephant (walking)
and a baby giraffe
and a baby white-lipped rhino (first born in the park)
but just so you don't think it's all cute and baby stuff,
here are two rhinos doing what they do best
two lions ditto
a bunch of African animals I couldn't keep up with their names
and finally, vultures waiting ...
not for a new birth, but for someone to die
not for a new birth, but for someone to die
AND yet another pond!
For now I will call it 6a
This one is NOT on the map
