This was a total longshot on my part.
After leaving the Lakeside El Monte Hanson ponds,
down in the river valley.
I said "Would you like to go find a pond at the top of a mountain?"
My wife said yes.
I had seen it on a map / satellite view.
What looked like a reservoir and a racetrack on a mountaintop.
We were able to find the private road in, and
gave a friendly wave to the few people visible that Monday morning.
It was beautiful!
This is the ranch enclosing the reservoir I saw at the top of the mountain,
but we didn't get that far as we were enchanted by this group of ponds.
Thoroughbred horses are being trained here,
and raced on that mountain-top track,
so we refrained from driving a mile further up a dirt road.
I'd figure we can get to that reservoir with a hike from a nearby county park.
We've only been escorted off a property once;
I don't want to make a habit of it.
So cool, a tiny floating boathouse.
