San Diego Mission Dam

The Mission or Padre Dam was the first man-made dam in the County, 
It supplied water to the Spanish padres who built the San Diego Mission,
Presidio, and other communities.



This is a very old picture. I don't suggest you try sitting in the river today,
as it is considered politically and environmentally incorrect.


The area looks like this today

The pond covers about 1/2 acre.
