There are about 10 ponds along Olive Hill Road and its tributaries.
But this was the first one I spotted, so it gets the name.
The only reason we saw it, deep in a hollow, it the road slows to 10 mph
for an extreme hairpin turn around the pond.
I stopped the car, we got out, and peered over the edge.
Like so many ponds. Nothing!
But then I saw some little ripples in the reflections of the reeds.
It's an all-but-invisible pond.
Partly it's due to camoflage
But from the right angles it's clearly a nice beautiful pond
with nothing hanging over it
at least on this side of the road.
I haven't located the ponds that are up the hill and across the road.
Yet.
