Ramona Grasslands

Ramona Water District operates a water reclamation/filtration plant
out in the middle of a grassy pasture, W of town.

We drove out there and looked at a couple very nice ponds.
Much of this area is now a Grasslands Preserve

"County supervisors voted unanimously July 2019 to buy 123 acres
to add to the County’s 3,490-acre Ramona Grasslands Preserve.

Part of the County’s Multiple Species Conservation Program (MSCP)
this area includes coastal sage scrub and oak woodlands,
a large portion of Santa Maria Creek, grasslands, wetlands, vernal pools,
409 different plant species, 23 butterfly species, 21 reptile species,
37 mammals, 6 types of amphibians and 100 types of birds.

The preserve includes trails for hikers, bicyclists and equestrians,
although not all of the preserve’s acreage is open to the public.
The preserve is managed by the Department of Parks and Recreation."

On the way back we spotted this simple clean pond on the E side of the road.
